AC Synchronous Motors provide constant speeds and the ability to stop within a few degrees of rotation. Direction of rotation for AC Synchronous Motors using single-phase operation is easily achieved by the use of a phase shifting network and a single-pole, three-position switch. AC Synchronous Motors are stepper motors that are modified to run off of AC power. These AC synchronous motors come with a matching capacitor and resistor. This allows for no additional driver or amplifier to be necessary, which makes this a cost effective way to provide a large range of torque over a fixed speed. Thermal runaway under stall conditions is eliminated because the starting and running currents are nearly identical. The speed of the motor is determined by the frequency of the supply making the motor run 1.2 times the frequency of the motor.

Custom options for the AC synchronous motor line include optimizing the maximum speed, torque, current, voltage, cabling, wiring, connectors, and shaft modifications.
